Revelation 16, The Seven Bowls of Wrath Part 4

Verses 17-21 The Seventh Bowl The seventh bowl is poured out and a voice from the temple in Heaven declares “It is done”. I believe that this is God, Himself, likely not the Father but of God the Son, Jesus. It is God Who declares when something is over (Genesis 2:2; John 19:30; Hebrews 12:2). The word “done” is Strong’s number 1096. It is “Ginomai” meaning to become; to be made formed; to come to pass; to be fulfilled, accomplished. The point being that the judgments culminate leaving one intellectual conclusion: the judgments were orchestrated by God and He is…

Revelation 16, The Seven Bowls of Wrath Part 3

Verses 10-11 The Fifth Bowl The fifth bowl is described with speculative yet vivid imagery. This bowl is emptied on the throne of the Beast. His kingdom will be plunged into complete darkness. Keep in mind all of these things are happening quickly. The seals and trumpets were spaced out for the most part. The people who suffered the boils have also been burned by the sun. Now they will not be able to see a thing. Armies will not be able to mobilize. People at this time will be in such torment that they will do anything to distract…

Revelation 16, The Seven Bowls of Wrath Part 2

Verses 4-7 The Third Bowl This bowl is poured on the rivers and springs of water. This bowl turns the water to blood like the second one. This gives me the impression that God is pushing His enemies into a corner. If these bowls focus on the military advancements of the campaign of Armageddon God will literally be dictating their movements. The angel announces the purpose behind these judgments. This is a judicial ruling from God, in Heaven for the crime of spilling the blood of His people. For thousands of years the devil has worked through men, with the…

The Dangers of Over Coming Sin: What if I Fail?

Overcoming sin can be one of the most destructive pursuits a Christian can attempt. Overcoming sin can lead to self-righteousness, coveting, pride, lust (and not just sensual lust), and much more. Every single one of these things can keep us from executing faith, which is why you are alive. In our pride we dictate to God what our good works should be at any moment. Through self-righteousness our faith can be dictated by how the world revolves around us. By coveting and lust our faith is dictated by “following our hearts.” If we let anything or anyone other than God…

No Matter What, You Are…

2 Corinthians chapter 3 is loaded with statements about the people of God; both men and women. This chapter speaks to who we really are as far as God is concerned. All of these things are directed as a “matter of fact” to every beleiver. If you are backslidden (meaning that you were tight with God and now are not) this chapter is for you! If you are struggling with your identity, sin, relationship, your thoughts, if you are heartbroken; it’s ok. In spite of any and all of these things God sees you as a masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10). God…

How Could Jesus Die For Sin?

In the projects of Everette, Massachusetts I met young “Catholic Christians” wearing a crucifix. I would ask them “Do you know Who is hanging on the cross your wearing?” Most did know the name of the Son of God, some did not. Most did not know why He was on the Cross, one did. Maybe you have said it, maybe you have heard it. “Jesus died for you and paid for your sins.” If we think we are Christians it is required that we have heard it and we are saved by beleiving it. I have recently been challenged by…

Revelation 16 The Seven Bowls of Wrath Part 1 (The Two Evils)

The First Bowl Here the angels are sent out to unleash the wrath of God throughout the bowl judgments. The first bowl specifically targets the people who are sealed by the mark of the Beast and those who worship the idols of the Beast. The words used to describe the effects of the wrath of God in the King James Version are “noisome” and “grievous sores”. “Noisome” is Strong’s number 2556. In the Greek it is known as “Kakos”. Kakos is generally used for evil. This type of evil is indicative of someone who is so self-centered that they can…
